  1. Who will I be working with?

In Mallorca, not all counselling services are formally qualified. However with Sarah, you’re in safe hands: a fully UK-qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with over a decade of experience supporting clients.

Sarah holds:

  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling
  • BSc (Hons) in Psychology
She has extensive experience supporting individuals, couples, and families both in person and online.
  1. Are sessions confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential and handled with the utmost professionalism.
Information is only ever shared in exceptional circumstances (for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others), and this will be discussed with you beforehand.

  1. Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. We provide online counselling via secure video call to clients around the world.
Online therapy offers flexibility and comfort for those who cannot attend in person or prefer the convenience of remote sessions.

  1. Where are you located?

The British Counselling Service is based in Palma de Mallorca, Illes Balears, Spain.
Exact location details will be provided upon booking.

  1. How long is a counselling session?

Each therapy session typically lasts 50 minutes.
Sessions are usually held weekly, but the frequency can be adjusted according to your needs and progress.

  1. How many sessions will I need?

There is no set number of sessions—some clients benefit from short-term work (6–12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term therapy.
You and your counsellor will discuss your goals and review progress regularly.

  1. How do I book an appointment?

You can book a session by:

  • Emailing[email protected]
  • Calling or messaging via the contact details here on our website
  • Using Skype or video call for online therapy

During the first session, you’ll discuss what brings you to therapy and explore how we can best support you.

  1. What are your fees?

Please visit our Fees page for up-to-date pricing.
Payment can be made via cash, credit/debit card, bank transfers, and PayPal, or other approved methods.
Online and in-person sessions are charged at the same rate.

  1. What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made with less notice may be charged in full, as the session time is reserved for you.

  1. What kinds of issues do you work with?

We offer support for a broad range of emotional and psychological issues, including:

  • Anxiety, depression, and stress
  • Relationship and family difficulties
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma and abuse
  • Addiction and recovery
  • Life transitions (career change, relocation, divorce, etc.)
  • Self-esteem and identity issues

If your needs require medical or psychiatric intervention, we can refer you to an appropriate professional through our extensive network of contacts.

  1. Can I bring my partner or family to sessions?

Yes. We offer couples and family therapy sessions designed to improve communication, resolve conflict, and strengthen relationships.

  1. What therapeutic approach do you use?

Our work is grounded in psychodynamic therapy, a proven approach that helps uncover the roots of emotional distress and patterns of behaviour.
We may also integrate other techniques (e.g., cognitive-behavioural strategies) when beneficial.

  1. Will therapy be in English?

Yes. All therapy is conducted in English by a native English-speaking, UK-trained counsellor.

  1. How will I know if therapy is helping?

You may notice:

  • Feeling more in control and at peace
  • Improved relationships and communication
